Sydney Kink Festival

The Sydney Kink Festival is the city's biggest weekend for the scene. The 2026 edition ran over the June long weekend, 5 to 7 June, and its programme gives a good picture of what Sydney offers. It opened with a munch called Eat Me at the Empire Hotel in Annandale, which the festival describes as friendly to curious newcomers, with no formal rules and the choice to dress up or keep it casual. A play party, Threshold, ran at Our Secret Spot, and the markets and workshops, from half-day to full-day, took place at the Rex Centre in Darlinghurst. The weekend closed at the Burdekin Hotel with the fetish club night S1NFUL and the cabaret PER.VERSION, which mixes burlesque and kink trivia.

Fetish nights and the leather community

Sydney's leather community has its own calendar. A Sydney Leather festival ran in July 2025, and its title competition at Paddo RSL in Darlinghurst crowned Mr, Ms and Mx Leather and a Bootblack, with Mx Leather as a new title that year. The same community raised more than $5,000 for four charities at a fundraiser called Flash Ya Sash, hosted by the 2025 titleholders at Darling Nikki's in St Peters, as Star Observer reported.

On Oxford Street, The Eagle Sydney is a leather and fetish bar on Level 2 of the Burdekin Hotel, and it marked five years in February 2025 with a six-night Mardi Gras programme. In October 2026, a fifth-year fetish party called the Fet Gala runs at ARQ Sydney in Darlinghurst, run by Red Heaven Events with a mandatory dress code, no sex on premises and no nudity. Its organisers say newcomers are welcome.
